What Is PHP?

More structure.
Support throughout the day.

PHP stands for Partial Hospitalization Program.

It is a more intensive scheduled daytime program for teens who need greater clinical support but can safely return home outside treatment hours.

PHP is not an overnight program. Care takes place during planned treatment hours and is guided by individual needs.

Altara’s PHP is in development. Services, schedules, formats, and enrollment availability require confirmation.

Who May Benefit?

When more support
may be needed.

PHP may be considered when a teen needs a higher level of structure than less intensive care can provide, while remaining safe at home outside program hours.

A clinical assessment determines whether PHP is appropriate and whether Altara can meet the teen’s needs.

Understanding the whole picture.

  • Current symptoms and treatment history
  • Safety and medical needs
  • Ability to participate in daytime treatment
  • Family and home support outside program hours
  • School functioning and appropriate level of care

A diagnosis or online self-test alone does not determine eligibility.

School Coordination

Planning with the family

With appropriate consent, the team may coordinate with families and schools to discuss academic needs and transition plans.

School services and accommodations are determined by the school. Academic support, modified schedules, or homebound instruction are not guaranteed.

Care Formats

Explore the options.
Confirm the right fit.

In-person and live virtual care may be considered when clinically appropriate and actually available. Not every teen or program is eligible.

Format depends on assessment, safety, location, staffing, applicable requirements, and insurance coverage.

Explore Virtual & Scheduling

Virtual care takes preparation.

  • A reliable connection and appropriate device
  • A suitable private space
  • An agreed safety and emergency plan
  • Approval for the individual teen and program

Family Involvement & Going Home

Care during the day.
Support beyond the sessions.

Teens return home after treatment. The assessment considers whether they can remain safe outside program hours and what support is available at home.

Family participation may be part of the treatment plan. The team can explain consent, privacy, communication, and caregiver expectations.

PHP does not provide overnight care or continuous supervision. If a different level of care is needed, the team may discuss other options.

Continuing Care

Planning what comes next.
As needs change.

Planning for ongoing support begins during treatment. As a teen is ready for less intensive care, the team may recommend IOP, outpatient therapy, medication management, family support, or coordination with existing providers.

A transition from PHP to IOP may be considered when clinically appropriate and services are available. Follow-up appointments and coverage require confirmation.
