For Teens · Ages 12–17

You can be going
through something without knowing
what to call it.

Maybe everything feels loud. Maybe you’re exhausted, stressed, angry, sad, anxious, or just not feeling like yourself. You don’t need the perfect words to start a conversation.

Your voice matters here.

What to Expect

Understanding first.
Your story matters.

What happens at Altara?

We get to know what’s been going on, what matters to you, and what kind of support could help.

Depending on your needs, care may include group sessions, individual or family sessions, skill-building, and other clinical support.

You don’t need the perfect words. You can start with questions about what care might look like.

It’s okay to ask

Real questions.
Clear answers.

Feeling unsure is understandable. Here are a few things you might want to know before taking the next step.

Do I have to talk in front of everyone?

Groups are one possible part of structured treatment. You can ask the admissions team what group sessions look like, what participation means, and how privacy works.

What about school and friends?

We know you have a life outside treatment. Ask about planned after-school options, daytime programs, and virtual participation when clinically appropriate. Schedules are confirmed before enrollment.

What if I’m nervous?

That’s a reasonable feeling. You can ask questions about the process before deciding what comes next with your caregiver and the care team.

How does privacy work?

Ask the team what information stays private, what may be shared with your parent or caregiver, and when safety concerns require information to be shared. The team can explain the rules that apply to your care.

Different needs.
Different levels of support.

Some teens need more structure than weekly appointments can provide. An assessment helps determine what support may be appropriate.

IOP

Still room for life.

The Reset Room

Overstimulated?
Need a minute?

You don’t have to fix your whole day right now. Pick one small reset.

Try a Reset

Optional wellness activities, not treatment or emergency support.

  • Listen Notice one sound or put on music you already enjoy.
  • Move Stretch or change position if it feels comfortable and safe.
  • Create Doodle or write a sentence just for yourself.
  • Pause Notice three things you see, two you hear, and one you can feel.

Real Talk

Real questions.
No lectures.

Growing up comes with a lot of stuff nobody hands you a manual for. Let’s make some of it easier to talk about.

Understanding Care

What actually happens in a group therapy session?

Start with the questions above, then ask Altara about participation, privacy, and what sessions may involve.

Finding the Words

What if I don’t know how to explain how I feel?

You don’t need a perfect explanation to begin. It’s okay to say that something feels different.

Asking for Help

How do I tell a trusted adult something important?

A parent, caregiver, school counselor, or another trusted adult can be a starting point for support.

Your next step

You don’t have to have
it all figured out.

You can ask questions before deciding what comes next. Talk with a parent or trusted adult, and reach out to Altara to learn about the assessment process.
