Understanding Structured Care

More support.
A thoughtful way forward.

Some teens need more structure than weekly appointments can provide.

Altara’s proposed Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) are designed to offer scheduled, structured care while teens return home outside program hours.

The appropriate level of support depends on a clinical assessment and whether the program can meet the teen’s needs.

Care begins with understanding the person, their needs, and the life around them.

Finding the Appropriate Program

The right program begins
with understanding.

An assessment considers the teen’s needs, safety, medical concerns, home support, and ability to participate. The team also reviews whether Altara can appropriately provide the care needed.

Request an Assessment

You don’t have to choose alone.

The clinical team can explain its recommendations, available formats, family participation, and next steps.

If another type of care is needed, referrals may be discussed.

What is the difference between IOP and PHP?

IOP generally provides several sessions per week. PHP offers more intensive scheduled daytime support. The appropriate level of care depends on assessment.

How do we know which program is right?

A clinical assessment considers symptoms, safety, medical needs, participation, and support outside treatment. A self-test or diagnosis alone does not determine program eligibility.

Will my teen stay overnight?

No. IOP and PHP are not overnight programs. Teens must be able to safely return home outside treatment hours.

How does treatment fit with school?

After-school IOP is being planned. Daytime programs may overlap with school. Coordination may occur with appropriate consent, but academic accommodations are determined by the school and are not guaranteed.

Can my teen participate virtually?

Possibly, when clinically appropriate and actually available. Eligibility also depends on safety, location, requirements, and insurance coverage.

Will insurance cover the program?

Coverage depends on the plan and approved services. Benefits, prior authorization requirements, and potential out-of-pocket costs require review before enrollment.
